The duilia vase is a ceramic piece that refers to the movement of a spiral. Part modeling gained dancing contours by the hands in ascending direction. The high temperature firing provides good resistance to the piece, which does not have a glaze and, therefore, should be used to house light dry plants.

The name of the vase pays homage to the Brazilian astronomer and astrophysicist Duilia de Mello, who he was part of the team that discovered the true size of a spiral galaxy called NGC 6872 - also known as the Condor galaxy. In addition to dedicating herself to research, she was also a professor of Physics and Astronomy at the Catholic University of Washington, in the United States, and has published books and hundreds of scientific articles. She has been awarded on several occasions for her contributions to science both in Brazil and abroad and is the mind behind the NGO Associação Mulher das Estrelas, which aims to promote careers in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in society, mainly among women (source: tecmundo)
